Statement

Making artist books from my fine art prints has provided me with a distinctive medium for exploring, integrating, and resolving my ideas. I am attracted to artist books both as physical objects and as containers of meaning. For many years my images have incorporated archetypal symbols which, over time, evolved to become my "Universal Language" series. The power of symbol and universal order inspires me and informs the work.

Working intuitively, an integral part of my image making process is welcoming the accidents and surprises that may occur while utilizing a variety of copper plate etching methods. Experimentation, spontaneity and observing the evolutions of the image transformations are reasons why I enjoy printmaking.

My artwork is primarily created in my Fiddletown studio in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
